The Napkin Purpose

THEN
The original purpose for the napkins was to give my teenage kids something to make them think, laugh, contemplate, enjoy and share. I wanted to introduce them to philosophical, social, moral and ethical ideas from the great thinkers of the past and present in a way that would engage their minds and eyes.

I was looking for a way to teach my children about the big, absorbent ideas of life without having to sit down and give them a lesson, which is usually not a very effective way for parents to teach their kids.

NOW
Once I received the napkins back that first year (read the napkin story) and I started to hear from my daughters that their lunch table friends were also looking forward to the napkins I started to think about sharing them with more people.

The purpose now is to talk directly to people, young and old, about those same ideas. It is also to help parents in their efforts to communicate absorbent ideas to their children.
